New Jersey 9/11 Design Competition

New Jersey selected Liberty State Park as the location for a memorial to New Jersey victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. This memorial’s location is where emergency services expected to receive many of the injured. In the end there were no survivors to be brought to this location and 674 New Jersey residents died in the attack.

The features of the design are a wall of “remembrance” of names that is also the entry to the cross-river view of the World Trade Center location. Beyond the entry walls, a field of individual memorials is located. Each symbolic “ribbon of freedom” had a voice recording relating important personal information about the victims, recorded by a family or friend.  Although our submission was not chosen, it shows the designers creative vision.
